At the start of the year my boyfriend and I decided to rescue a pooch from the RSPCA. After months and months of browsing Adoptapet and after many impromptu trips to the kennels (and quite a few tears shed at the expense of the poor dogs that just needed a loving home) we found our perfect match! After promptly changing his name from Sparrow (guh) to Bear, he became the love of our lives (and the main subject of my photos!)
It has been over six months since Beary boy bounded into our lives and we couldn't be happier. Yes, there have been the occasional chewed hose and pop-up sprinklers (he has quite an affinity with water), the odd towel pulled off the line (which I doubt will be happening anymore) and the old mad dash after him down the street when I put too much confidence in his ability to 'stay' - but all in all he has been a wonder! Two private lessons with the kindest old ladies, Rosene and Sherwyn, was all it took to make Bear the most obedient dog around! He has the kindest nature, is the tug-of-war champion and even likes to jump up on your lap for a pat. I would honestly urge anyone thinking about adopting a dog from the RSPCA to do it, like right now! It has been so great for us, and I think he loves us just that little bit more knowing we gave him a second chance. x
A lot of people have said we treat Bear like a person, but I have no idea what would give them that idea?! I mean so what if he has a favourite Origin team and a sweet tooth come Easter - sheesh kapeesh, can't a canine have a bit of fun?! Haha!
